My friend Mike's band. A really nice dude I met in whilst in Brooklyn. I got to crash at his apartment and hang out with him and his girlfriend a bunch, rad guy.

Anyways, this is his new band and I HAD to share this because its some of the most exhilarating music I've heard lately. So many delicious influences in this sound. The music is frenetic and the vocals are searing, its fucking awesome!

It's no secret that I fall in love with cheesy music often, but this might take the cake. When I first heard The Veronicas like 2 years ago I totally fell in love with them. I mean, they are hot Australian twin sisters - I cannot be blamed. I thought it would be a fleeting obsession since they would most certainly fall off the face of the earth. Well apparently they are still around because they have a new album coming out. I'm guilty of knowing this because I am MySpace friends with them. Whatever.
Anyways, now that I've actually heard them speak it's over. I'm horny. I'm moving to Australia ASAP. Seee ya!

I started this blog like a month ago and have managed to update it like 10 times, and I'm already over it.

First of all, paying this blog the attention it deserves is just far too time-consuming. My life is fulfilling enough already, I'm not interested in one more thing to think about daily. I don't see how people with a life actually pull off updating blogs 5 times a day!

Secondly, as much as I want to, I haven't even kept up on reading my friends blogs. I thought that keeping my own would encourage me to check on friends blogs daily and it would be fun. Nope. I don't even think about it. This has convinced me that most blogs were mainly invented either by girls as yet another means to judge and stalk people.

By those looking for some sort of status by keeping others updated on secondhand information they have probably heard already or will hear again 10,000 times.

Italian man accused of kidnapping ex-girlfriend to get ironing, dishes done

ROME - An Italian man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from a pub, taking her home and forcing her to iron his clothes and wash the dishes, police said Monday.

The 43-year-old man dragged the woman out of a pub in the port city of Genoa, shoved her into a car and took her to his home, where he made her iron and wash dishes after threatening her, they said.

Police arrived at his house after being tipped off by a friend of the woman who watched the scene at the pub.

The man, who was apparently furious at his ex-girlfriend for leaving him, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, police said.

I've never seen Joba Chamberlain's eyes.

Due to the moaning of many fans (and more so the team's co-owner), the New York Yankees finally caved to the pressure and decided to convert their dominant relief pitcher, Joba Chamberlain, into a full-fledged starter.

If you haven't followed the Yankess, this guy has been just devastating. Lights out in most of his appearances. Which is why many wanted to see him become a starting pitcher, giving him more innings to pitch (therefore supposedly helping the team win more games).

Last week he played his first game as a starter, and got ripped to shreds by the opposing team. He lasted just 63 pitches before he was pulled.
This man is always flat-brim low, hiding his face. Now I know why. This is the picture that was posted on the front of MLB.com

Heart Songs - Weezer

I got my hands on Weezer's new Red Album, and while it's not a complete return to form, it's definitely a step in the right direction. They still cannot re-capture that magic of Blue Album and Pinkerton, but Red Album is far, far superior to their last few messes.

This track "Heart Songs", especially stands out to me. At first it appears to be a trivial song about what Rivers liked listening to when he was young, but by the time the bridge arrives (many points for the Nirvana reference) the song swells into one of the more epic songs Weezer has written.

This is also the most honestly Rivers has written lyrics since Pinkerton, so points for that as well.

Weezer's Red Album is out today.

I am going to sporadically post songs that I am currently jamming or highly recommend checking out. There will most likely be lots of flashback songs from a few years ago that still deserve attention, along with new shit I'm digging at the moment.

This song is by Dolour, which is actually just one dude. You know, one of those things. I met this guy when I was frequenting Seattle several years back. This is off his 2002 album "Suburbiac".

I have some things to say about this.
My friend Ephraim is putting on this shindig with some buddies of his. The theme is "Taking Back Chicago", saving us all from the shitty "parties" going on around town.

First of all, I want to make it clear that I love Ephraim. I met him waay back and he is one of the most genuine people I've met in this town. He is always fun and ready to get "awesome". I will be supporting this event, making a rare appearance out-and-about town because I appreciate the concept behind the event, and mainly just because I like Ephraim. But let's be honest, the new Lava Lounge sucks. Bad.

But my point is, seriously, none of these events are really parties. It's just... going to a bar. These aren't even real dance clubs. The whole concept of having the same dozen kids DJing each week at different bars throughout Wicker Park is so played out at this point, I really can't believe people are still into it.

If these people really cared about parties, they'd be throwing house parties and DJing. What ever happened to house parties!?! I think they died in Chicago after the summer of 2006. Seriously, I haven't been to a good one since then.

Yeah I know its rough having house parties, and you just don't want to put forth the effort as you get older and have had your parties busted by police the last 12 times. I definitely know that from experience. That's why after Texas Ballroom, The Western Front and The Wrightwood House I now live in a small 2-bedroom apartment.

I'm just sayin'.
Stop calling hanging out at bars "parties". Please.

As noble as the concept of this particular event is, it is only one DJ set by whomever away from becoming just as shitty as Rehab or anything at Funky Buddha Lounge.

I wish Ephraim & Co. the best with this night, because I know their hearts are in the right place. Just gotta keep all the disgusting underage kids with their disgusting makeup out. They should be at real house parties anyways.

Whatever, I'm a bitch. I'll see you there. I'll be partying.

EDIT: I have to give props to the guys who did Playhaus while it was around for doing the only really legit DJ house parties over the last couple years. That shit was good. A prime example for everyone else. Props also to Das & Dos Butt for carrying on the tradition, albeit the focus is more sleaze & wackiness than music.

Now that I have a fresh New Era Twins hat I can properly rep my home team. Don't get me wrong, my loyalty is to the White Sox, but in case they drop the ball in the AL Central, I'm rooting Twins all the way. The two most surprising teams in the division so far, I call one of them taking the Central title this season. I'm loving how pathetic the Tigers are, and let's be honest: the Indians were never really as good as all the columnists claimed pre-season.

Welcome to The Jealousy, my new personal blog.

It seems as though everyone is jumping on the blogging bandwagon as of late, and that's great. It gets boring refreshing myspace all day, and blogs seem to be as good a time-waster as anything.
I was flirting with the idea of re-igniting my old LiveJournal, but then realized that would be sooo 2003. No one uses that shit anymore.

We'll have to see what this blog ends up being... mainly just rants and personal reflections, probably lots of music recommendations and entertaining tidbits.
